Understanding the NEW YORK STATE ENERGY RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (NYSERDA) home energy efficiency grant program.

NYSERDA is a state agency that gives homeowners different types of financial incentives to assist them in making their homes more energy efficient.

Here's the exciting news!

If you are income qualified, NYSERDA will pay 50% or even 60% of the total amount of the job scope to make your home more energy efficient!!! Obviously, you have to have the money to pay the other 40% or 50% or good enough credit to finance it at the 5.99%.

Only certain companies have the correct credentials to administer these state programs. We at EnergySaverGuy.com have a relationship with Zero Draft of CNY and through them we are able to help you get the grant.

Regardless of income, when you make your home more energy efficient through Zero Draft, there is always a 10% cash incentive back to you (a real check) or 5.99% financing (fixed) for 10 years ( payments are around $11 per thousand borrowed).

Here are the income guidelines for 2008; (they vary by county). It goes by how many people live in the household.

You must earn less than:

$39K for one person

$43K for two people

$47K for three

$52K for four

The numbers keep rising as the number of people in the household goes up.

The easiest way to go about getting this grant is to get "pre qualified" through Zero Draft by contacting me, Pat Cafone at 518-209-3341 or E-mail me at answers@energysaverguy.com

I will get you the appropriate paperwork and explain the program to you. The "NYSERDA" program is typically used for insulating attics, walls and crawlspaces. Airsealing the same spaces to reduce air infiltration. Up to 40% of the total amount can be windows and doors as long as the other 60% is insulation.

NYSERDA says that in order to get the grant it must pay for itself in 10 years or less and they say windows and doors have a 15 year payback. The attic insulation and air sealing payback in 3 or 4 years.

All of the above mentioned items qualify for a up to a $5,000 grant that covers as much as 50% of the costs of the improvements, (you pay $5K the New York State grant pays $5K).

In order to get the 60% grant you must be replacing a furnace or boiler with a high efficiency unit. (example, you replace you "old" furnace with a 95% high efficiency sealed combustion one with an electronically controlled motor, cost $5000, you replace your old hot water heater with a high efficiency power venterd one, cost $1500, and insulate and air seal your attic for $3500, total job=10K, you pay 4K or $44 a month for 10 years, the grant pays $6K.

There's your New York State community money working for you. Feel free to contact me for more info, the paperwork is very easy and Zero Draft has a grant specialist "Al" who will assist you.

Thank you for learning with us, now it's time to take action.

Remember, high energy bills go away, today, when we take action.
